Pinguicula 'Weser' × 'Fraser' is a cultivated Mexican butterwort hybrid that combines two highly regarded horticultural hybrids renowned for their colourful foliage, attractive flowers, and reliable growth. Derived from lineages originating from the limestone mountains of Mexico, this cross inherits the vigour and adaptability that have made Mexican butterworts some of the most popular carnivorous plants in cultivation. Plants typically form neat, symmetrical rosettes that remain ornamental throughout the year and often display excellent hybrid vigour.

Like other butterworts, Pinguicula 'Weser' × 'Fraser' captures small insects using specialised leaves covered in microscopic glands that produce a sticky mucilage. Fungus gnats, fruit flies, and other tiny arthropods become trapped on the leaf surface, where digestive enzymes break down prey and release nutrients that are absorbed directly through the foliage. The leaves are typically bright green when grown under lower light levels but can develop striking shades of pink, peach, bronze, and reddish-purple under brighter conditions. Mature plants produce elegant flowers on slender stems held above the rosette, often displaying attractive lavender, violet, or pink-purple tones inherited from both parents.

This hybrid follows the seasonal growth cycle characteristic of many Mexican butterworts, producing actively carnivorous foliage during favourable conditions and transitioning to a compact succulent rosette during cooler or drier periods. The combination of colourful foliage, regular flowering, and strong growth makes Pinguicula 'Weser' × 'Fraser' an excellent choice for collectors seeking a decorative and easy-to-grow butterwort. Its attractive appearance and dependable performance make it a rewarding addition to both beginner and advanced carnivorous plant collections.
