Pinguicula 'Laueana × Sethos' is a cultivated Mexican butterwort hybrid combining the intense colouration of Pinguicula laueana with the vigorous growth and reliability of the well-known hybrid Pinguicula 'Sethos'. Although it does not occur naturally in the wild, it inherits characteristics from species native to the limestone mountains of central and eastern Mexico, where butterworts grow on rocky cliffs and calcareous outcrops with distinct wet and dry seasons. The result is a compact, attractive rosette well suited to both collectors and beginners.

Like other butterworts, this hybrid captures tiny insects using specialised leaves covered in microscopic glands that produce a sticky mucilage. Fungus gnats, fruit flies and other small arthropods become trapped before digestive enzymes break them down, allowing the plant to absorb valuable nutrients. The broad, fleshy leaves often develop attractive shades of green, peach, pink and reddish tones under brighter light, reflecting the influence of P. laueana. Mature plants produce elegant flowers on slender stems, typically displaying soft pink to lavender-purple tones with a contrasting white throat.

Like many Mexican butterwort hybrids, Pinguicula 'Laueana × Sethos' undergoes a seasonal change between a larger carnivorous rosette during active growth and a smaller succulent rosette during cooler, drier conditions. Its colourful foliage, dependable growth and attractive flowers have made it a sought-after hybrid among carnivorous plant enthusiasts, offering much of the beauty of its parent species while remaining forgiving and easy to maintain.
