Pinguicula emarginata × Pinguicula moranensis 'Superba' is a cultivated Mexican butterwort hybrid that combines the compact growth and refined appearance of Pinguicula emarginata with the larger size and showy flowers of Pinguicula moranensis 'Superba'. Both parents originate from the limestone mountains of central Mexico, where butterworts grow on moss-covered cliffs, rocky slopes, and mineral-rich seepage zones. This hybrid inherits the vigour and adaptability of its parentage, producing attractive rosettes that balance compact growth with impressive ornamental appeal.

Like other members of the genus, this hybrid captures small insects using specialised leaves covered in microscopic glands that secrete a sticky mucilage. Fungus gnats, tiny flies, and other minute arthropods become trapped on the leaf surface, where digestive enzymes break down prey and release nutrients that are absorbed directly through the foliage. The leaves are typically bright green but may develop shades of pink, bronze, or reddish-purple under stronger light. Mature plants produce elegant flowers on slender stems held above the rosette, often displaying large pink to lavender-purple blooms inherited from the 'Superba' parent while retaining the graceful proportions associated with P. emarginata.

Like many Mexican butterwort hybrids, Pinguicula emarginata × Pinguicula moranensis 'Superba' undergoes a seasonal transition between actively carnivorous growth and a compact succulent rosette during cooler or drier periods. Its combination of colourful foliage, large flowers, and reliable growth makes it an appealing hybrid for both beginner and experienced growers. The blend of compact form and enhanced floral display creates a particularly attractive plant that showcases the diversity and beauty of Mexican butterwort breeding.
