Pinguicula agnata × Pinguicula potosiensis is a cultivated Mexican butterwort hybrid that combines the vigour and broad foliage of Pinguicula agnata with the compact growth and elegant floral characteristics of Pinguicula potosiensis. Both parent species originate from the limestone-rich mountains of central Mexico, where they inhabit rocky cliffs, seepage zones, and mineral-rich slopes. This hybrid inherits the adaptability and ornamental appeal of its parents, producing attractive rosettes that are both robust and highly decorative.

Like other members of the genus, this hybrid captures small insects using specialised leaves covered in microscopic glands that secrete a sticky mucilage. Fungus gnats, tiny flies, and other minute arthropods become trapped on the leaf surface, where digestive enzymes break down prey and release nutrients that are absorbed directly through the foliage. The leaves are typically bright green and smooth, often developing subtle pink, peach, or bronze tones under stronger light. Mature plants produce elegant flowers on slender stems held above the rosette, usually displaying shades of pale lavender to violet-purple inherited from both parent species.

Like many Mexican butterwort hybrids, Pinguicula agnata × Pinguicula potosiensis undergoes a seasonal transition between actively carnivorous growth and a compact succulent rosette during cooler or drier periods. Its combination of hybrid vigour, attractive foliage, and reliable flowering makes it a rewarding plant for growers of all experience levels. Blending the best qualities of two well-regarded Mexican species, this hybrid is an excellent example of the beauty and diversity found within cultivated Pinguicula.
