Drosera lunata is a distinctive tuberous sundew widely distributed throughout Australia, New Zealand, and parts of tropical Asia. Unlike many other tuberous species, it is highly adaptable and can be found growing in regions influenced by both winter and summer rainfall patterns. Mature plants produce upright stems that can reach up to 50 cm in height, bearing characteristic crescent-shaped carnivorous leaves that extend almost horizontally from the stem.
The leaves are covered in glistening mucilage-producing tentacles that trap and digest small insects, providing nutrients in the nutrient-poor soils where the species naturally occurs.
