Dionaea muscipula 'Cupped Traps' is one of the classic mutant Venus Flytrap cultivars. The clone was selected after growers observed plants producing traps with fused lobes that formed cup-like structures rather than opening normally. The unusual mutation quickly established the cultivar as a favourite among collectors.

The traps frequently exhibit partial fusion of the lobes, creating rounded cups or enclosed structures. Some traps may open only partially while others remain strongly fused. Colouration varies from green to red depending on growing conditions, and the rosette generally remains compact.

'Cupped Traps' is historically significant because it represents one of the most recognisable morphological mutations in Venus Flytrap cultivation. The defining trait is stable only through vegetative propagation, making cloned material essential for preserving the cultivar.
